Every once in a while

Something enters your life to change it, rearrange it

You’ll be joyous, and you’ll lose perspective, grow protective

Forget what it was like before the smiles

But then again every once in a while

These things that felt so permanent, after all you’ve underwent

Will pass you by and wash away, little by little day by day

And you will close the door, then

So nothing more can enter,

To make you smile again.
