i. peripeteia

The wind stopped
blowing and we all
rejoiced within
the classroom.

At that moment
you stammered in—
we greeted you and
at that point, you

ran out. Surely
to visit, again, the
lavatory—

ii. anagnorisis

The vultures are flying high above a simmering pool of jacked-up, passed-out, everywhere-in-betweened adolescents.  You walk over, rambling incoherencies, staring down—do you wish to engage in battle, you seventeen-year old hunk of rotting muscle?  Can you even formulate a single, simple, logical idea in that misunderstand (probably nonexistent) brain of yours?  How’s that for a battle, for once you are finished beating me to a pulp, look down on me with a face full of acne and sparse blonde chin hairs, who else looks down but the vulture circling outside your periphery—yearning for a belly full of Miller extra-light smothered in blood and sweat.

iii. aposiopesis

steam lifts off your swollen brow
a small patch of grass lodged between
your two front teeth

and with those teeth,
a smile and a cough—scarlet—
meanwhile, I am standing above
on the bench of a wooden swing,
crooning: “…
